PLEASING STAG BEETLE

SPECIES: LUCANUS PLACIDUS

SIZE: 25-40 mm

Lucanus Placidus is an uncommon species of stag beetle found in sandy substrates surrounding the Great Lakes region in Canada. In nature, larvae feed on dead tree roots and are known to have a 4 year life cycle. Our captive bred Lucanus Placidus have been selected for maximum size and mandible length, with an accelerated development requiring 8 months to reach their adult form. In terms of lifespan, smooth stag beetle adults have been known to exceed 485+ days in captivity. Adults can be fed beetle jellies or banana.
