REDDISH-BROWN STAG BEETLE

SPECIES: LUCANUS CAPREOLUS

SIZE: 30-50 mm

Lucanus capreolus is a large species of stag beetle native to southern Ontario, exhibiting a preference for soils rich in clay. Larvae feed within and beneath rotten logs. Our captive bred Lucanus capreolus have been selected for maximum size and mandible length. Average lifespan is around 6-12 months in captivity. Adults can be watermelon or dilute maple syrup.
